DATE: THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2015 (LAST DAY TO REGISTER FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 2015)
TIME: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
LOCATION: GREATER GRACE TEMPLE, 23500 W. 7 MILE ROAD, DETROIT 48219
COST: THERE IS NO COST TO ATTEND THIS TRAINING.
Suggested Participants: Fathers, male caregivers, father figures, Wayne County stakeholders from Community Mental Health, Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Public Health, Schools and Coordinating Agencies. Additionally, Case Managers, Counselors, Parent Support Partners, Social Workers, Therapists and Youth.
Training Description: We often find that fathers are not included in the treatment process. It has long been acknowledged that parents are critical to emotional well being of children. As a result families are included in the treatment planning and service delivery process for their children. However, men are noticeably absent from this process. As helping professionals, it is our responsibility to engage fathers (male caregivers). This conference will focus on the importance of fathers’ (father figures’) involvement in the lives of children to promote health, emotional, physical and developmental well being.
